7 Reasons Why Businesses Do Not Succeed

I have really been busy these past few weeks that I could not write any post. Anyway, I am back now and I hope to resume posting regularly again on this blog. Meanwhile, I will like to share with you some reasons that I feel inhibit some businesses from succeeding. If you are already running your business or about to start, then you need to read.

  1. Not conducting adequate research: Before starting any new business, ensure that you have a clear understanding of the product demand, supply, profit margin, investment and expenses related to your line of business. Just jumping into a business because “it seems right” could prove to be a very costly mistake.
  2. No passion: If you do not love what you are doing, then there is little or no chance that you will be able to continue in that business for any length of time. Get into a business because you see a need want to meet and not because you need to. You should be physically and mentally prepared to run your business.
  3. Lack of funding and no management plan: If you have entered into a business without a concrete plan as to how much capital will be required to start, build, and sustain your business, then you might find yourself without enough money to perform basic business activities.You should also hire the right employees, who not only have the motivation to work hard, but will also help you achieve your dreams.

Do you have what it takes?

Have you got what it takes to be an entrepreneur? Entrepreneurs are known for their self-confidence, energy, flexibility and opportunism. They are accustomed to getting involved and expect positive results from their involvement. In other words, they are prepared to use energy and mental effort because they expect, and often receive, appropriate rewards.

The following 15 characteristics are often found amongst people who have successfully started a new venture:

  1. drive and energy;
  2. self-confidence;
  3. high initiative and personal responsibility;
  4. internal locus of control (that is, you believe your own behaviour determines what happens to you, more so than external influences);
  5. tolerance of ambiguity;
  6. low fear of failure;

Become a NO-Limit Person

If you sincerely desire to build a successful business, there is nothing outside of you that can stop you. Every type of person with every imaginable handicap, limitation and obstacle has found a way to overcome their difficulties and go on to great success. You will not be the first person with handicap and you will not be the last. You just need to develop a no-barrier mentality.

No matter how many obstacles you face, someone else have faced 10 times as many and have been successful in spite of it. Building a successful business requires a goal, a plan, self-discipline and hard work. These are the qualities that you can learn and develop but they will place some demand on you and your time.
