 What is it that you want to do? Are people telling you that it can’t be done? Are you being held by the fear of unknown? Then read on…I am going to share a story today that has been a blessing to me. Its lessons have found many applications in my life. It does not matter what you are going through at the moment or what people have told you in the past about your present situation. The result you will get depends solely on YOU. There was a young man who believed that he could do anything he set his mind on to do. This became his guiding principle.

One day, he boasted that he could walk on water. Everybody in the village thought he had gone mad. Not only because they believed it would be an impossible task for the guy but also because nobody had done it before.

The fact that nobody has done it before does not mean that it can not be done.

The man made-up his mind that he would do it. He then went ahead fix the date when he would be able to show everybody that he could actually walk on water. The deal day came and to everybody’s surprise, the man walked on water. The village head later called the man aside and asked him how he was able to achieve this feat considering the fact that the river was deep. What the man said shocked everybody…

Anybody can walk on water if only he knows where the stones are.

What is your goal? What are you trying to achieve? Where do you see your business in the next few years? I have identified some steps that can move you towards achieving your goals. Do not only read them but ensure that you follow through on all the steps.

1. Make the commitment to reach your goal: “One person with a commitment is worth a hundred who only have an interest.” Mary Crowley. Your goal is worth nothing without your commitment to follow through on it. Lack of commitment is one of the reasons why many people do not [achieve their goals. Many have great goals and even wonderful plans to achieve the goals. But without a personal commitment, nothing will be achieved. You need to constantly remind yourself that nobody can achieve your goal for you. Your employees or your boss is only working at achieving his goals. So, how committed are you to your goals?

2. Be accountable: Commit yourself to detailed accountability. Look for someone that you respect and share your goals with the person. If possible, get a mentor that you know would be interested in you. Remember that mentors are not there to help you achieve your goals. They are to ensure that you remain on the right track. But I bet you this is worth much more than you can quantify. Also, develop the habbit of recording your progress toward your goals every night, and list the six most important things you need to do the next day. This daily discipline is not only key to reaching your goals but also gives you motivation to keep going. Continue Reading »

History has been made…Another dream has become reality. Barack Obama becomes the 44th President of the United States. Obama’s election as president changes dream to reality. It proves that anything is possible to him that believes. Obama’s story is not only one of rags to riches, it is the tale of an outsider who found for himself the inside track. It is a story that proves once more that we are not limited by what others do or say to us but by the limitations that we put in place by ourselves.

My congratulations, therefore, go to everyone who still believes in hope and especially those whose dreams have been brought back to life. While we are still celebrating, I believe this is a good time to examine some of the lessons from this history-making victory. We all need to look beyond the euphoria and see the values that we can replicate in our lives. So, what are the basic lessons that are available to us all?

1. Obama had a dream: What is it that you want to do? Every major achievement in life starts with a dream. The whole world started with a dream by God. There is nothing in existence today that has not passed through the dream stage. Obama started the race to “White House” with a dream. Today, he did not only achieve his dream but also create history.  He became the first Black American president of the United States. There is nothing you can achieve in life without starting with a dream. DREAM is an important foundation upon which all achievements are built. Through dreams, we determine indirectly what our future becomes. We pick our future with our dreams. The question now is, what pictures are in your mind? You can start today to determine the course of your life by dictating the pictures you allow to stay in your mind. Continue Reading »

“The difference between the rich and the poor is what they do in their spare time .”

Time waits for no man. This is simply known by everyone, but it lacks a corresponding common practice to back it. Consider a new – born baby. Upon birth, the child has nothing to his name, except “baba” and “mama”. All this little human has is his time, and he only would one day get to discover that every other thing he would receive / have in his life only would come in exchange for this precious commodity. Many a times, man seeks more of this treasure, while all they need is a better way of employing it as a good steward. Friends, we need to be the pilot of this time, while it flies before your eyes. Believe me, before you say Jack, or the “O” in OBJECTION, the year is gone, and while you take an inventory, you find – out that you have achieved nothing!

It is quite unfortunate to see many people live with no picture of where they are going or what lies ahead. Many merely exist with nothing to show for their existence. The one thing they know how to do best is mark time. This is clearly seen in the way many manage their time. It is worth remembering that a week from now – it will be a week from now and what becomes of you after then is determined by how you make use of your God-given asset. Whether you manage it well or not, either way, you will surely achieve a certain result – it just might not be what you expected. Continue Reading »

If I may ask, what makes you tick? Why do you get up each morning? On what do you burn the calories you swallow everyday? Do you know exactly where you are going? On waking up, do you have a clear objective for the day? Doesn’t it make you feel great? Do you know exactly what you want to achieve? What do you want to do with your precious life?

You might be wondering why you need to know what you want in life. Well… nothing comes by chance in life. You need to have a clear picture of where you are going. If you don’t have a clear picture of what you have in life, you will only settle for just anything that comes your way.
