Be Distinct or BE extinct

In real estate, it is location, location, location. In business & life, it is differentiate, differentiate, differentiate” Robert Goizueta, Former Coca-Cola CEO

This is just the summary of the basic rule of life. You can not continue to pretend to be who you are not. As long as you strive to be someone else, the best you can be is second best. No matter how similar a set of twins behave, there would still be a lot differences between them. So, why not start now to create a niche for yourself. When you hear of the name Bill Gate, what comes to mind? Definitely, Operating System. What about Michael Jordan? B’Ball… You will definitely not miss that. Continue Reading »

Just before you give up

Tola just finished his NYSC from one of the choicest cities. He served with one of the multi-nationals but the company did not offer him employment after his youth service corps. Reasons? Nobody really knows. So many of his mates that are not even as qualified as him were able to secure employment they finish their Youth Service.

He continues to apply to every advert that comes his way even when it seems that the job offers are completely different from his field. He desperately needs a breakthrough. He feels that all he needs is to at least get a job which can offset his daily expenses. The more he applies the more it seems to him that he may never get any job as he is fast approaching the age limit set by most of the companies. At a point, he concluded that nobody can get a job in this country unless he has a god father – uncle, aunts etc - who can help him out.

Tola believes that his peers that have been able to secure job after their Youth Corps are either lucky or know someone who helped them out. Since he definitely does not know anybody who could help him, he then feels he must be unlucky or someone somewhere is working against him. This makes him to develop a negative attitude towards himself thereby believing that the other applicants were probably better, more qualified than him or know people who were able to influence things for them. Afloat in A Sea of Abundance

Published by User ImageEmmanuel under Individual Economy

In the days of the mighty sailing ships, when brave souls voyaged into the unknown, dependent on the winds and their as-yet incomplete knowledge of geography and navigation, one of the greatest and most dangerous challenges was to traverse the area known as “the doldrums.”

Extending about 30 degrees on either side of the equator, the doldrums are subject to days, weeks, even months of no wind at all. After a long and difficult crossing from Europe to South America, lying becalmed in the doldrums — with no land in sight and with the ship’s supply of fresh water dwindling — was a terrible and life-threatening situation.

But history and legend offer us some fascinating insights into the power of our own thinking and belief. Back then no one had yet figured out how to determine longitude, although latitude was easily calculated. So if you could not see recognizable land, you could only know in what band of latitude you currently were. Exactly where you were in that ring around the earth was, at that time, unknowable. You can create your world

I have heard it times without number that life is unfair. But is this true? Is life really unfair? Will it be fair for me to say that life is all about perception and what you do? You do not need to agree with me now but that is the truth. Wait…millions of naira exchanged hands in this same Nigeria every day. Some you see with your physical eyes and others through electronic means but yet a lot still find it hard to feed.

The difference? The successful knows how to use their thought to create what they want. Everything in life starts with a thought. Even the world first existed in God’s thought before it became real. Everybody wants a better life, but if you do the same old things in the same old way you will get the same old results. If a farmer plants corn seeds, he gets corn. He doesn’t get tomatoes. As long as you continue to fill your thought with thought of failure, poverty, or violent ideas, it will be impossible for you to harvest success, wealth, or peace. If you want to change the results you are getting, you must change your images and the very thoughts you allow to pass through your mind per time, because thought is creative. Continue Reading »
