Lesson from a cafetaria

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

A young man entered a cafetaria, sat down in one of the chairs and waited to be attended to. Meanwhile, his mind kept wandering away in thoughts. The following week would make it a full year since he completed his National Youth Service Scheme. So many people had promised to help him secure employment at one time or the other but each promise always resulted in disappointment. He is now used to disappointments.

His thoughts were interrupted by a gentle tap on his back. He quickly gathered himself together and turned around to see who had tapped him. Standing behind him was a middle-aged man with an oval face devoid of any wrinkles of age. “Young man, I’ve been keeping an eye on you for the past ten minutes.” The fellow said, “you obviously seem not to understand how things operate in this cafetaria.” The man then pointed to another end of the hall and said, “over there is a tray rack. Go there, pick up a tray, and then join the queue so you can get served. In this cafetaria, nobody comes to attend to you. You pick up your tray and join the queue.”

That message ran deep within this young man like still waters. He had been buried up in thoughts that he did not even take notice of what had been going on. For him, what the older fellow had just told him was more than a guide to the cafetaria. It was the antedote to his problems. This young man walked out of the cafetaria determined not to depend on anybody any longer. He felt like a fool for doing that for a whole year. He maed up his mind to go out into the market place.

Life, definitely, doesn’t give you what you deserve; It only gives you what you demand. Never sit down waiting for someone to make things happen for you. God will no doubt use men to lift you, but don’t sit idle, waiting for the lifting to come. Go for it! If nobody employs you, why not deploy yourself? Remember this – in life, you don’t wait to get served. You go out there, pick up your tray and take your turn!

Now, do we really work?

Published by User ImageEmmanuel under Lighter Mood :-)

After 2 years of selfless service, a man realized that he has not been promoted, no transfer, no salary increase, no commendation and that the company is not doing any thing about it. So he decided to walk up to his manager one morning and after exchanging greetings, he told his manager his observation. The boss looked at him, laughed and asked him to sit down saying; “My friend, you have not worked here for even one day“. The man was surprised to hear this, but the manager went on to explain.

Manager:- How many days are there in a year?
Man:- 365 days and some times 366
Manager:- how many hours make up a day?
Man:- 24 hours
Manager:- How long do you work in a day?
Man:- 8am to 4pm. i.e. 8 hours a day.
Manager:- So, what fraction of the day do you work in hours?
Man:- He did some arithmetic and said 8/24 hours i.e. 1/3 (one third)
Manager:- That is nice of you! What is one-third of 366 days?
Man:- 122 (1/3×366 – 122 in days)
Manager:- Do you come to work on weekends?
Man:- No sir
Manager:- How many days are there in a year that are weekends?
Man:- 52 Saturdays and 52 Sundays equals to 104 days
Manager:- Thanks for that. If you remove 104 days from 122 days, how many days do you now have?
Man:- 18 days.
Manager:- OK ! I do give you 2 weeks leave every year. Now remove that 14 days from the 18 days left. How many days do you have remaining?
Man:- 4 days
Manager:- Do you work on New Year day?
Man:- No sir!
Manager:- Do you come to work on Worker’s day?
Man:- No sir!
Manager:- So how many days are left?
Man:- 2 days sir!
Manager:- Do you come to work on the (National holiday)?
Man:- No sir!
Manager:- So how many days are left?
Man:- 1 day sir!
Manager:- Do you work on Christmas day?
Man:- No sir!
Manager:- So how many days are left?
Man:- None sir!
Manager:- So, what are you claiming?
Man:- I understood Sir ! thank you Sir for all the money you have been giving me, I am sorry for trying to steal from the Company !!!!!!

Nairahost Buys over Semuadomain.com

Nairahost Nairahost was established by e-nnova mediaa multi-dimensional media outfit delivering high Impact Solutions in high-end functional Website Development, online portal solution and E-learning development & deployment – in October 2004 to offer affordable and reliable web hosting services to Nigerians. The company has risen to NO 5 in the country in less than two years of her existence.

Nairahost is, therefore, taking up the responsibility of bringing what the creative world has to offer to the feet of the people at affordable price through the various services we offer. Nairahost on a move to expand its services, bought over SemuaDomain, a Malaysian domain name registrar owned by K-Long Dot com.

This acquisition would ensure that Nairahost would be able to provide domain reseller services and also real-time domain registration for its clients. Semuadomain.com would allow Nairahost customers to be able to registrar domains on their own without any intervention. Moreover, clients would be able to have access to domain control panel for each of the individual domain names under their reseller accounts.

The functionality of Semuadomain.com, would not only facilitate customers with great functionality and control over their domain, but would also help them generate more income online, with relatively no overhead cost by using the reseller service.

More information will be available on Nairahost with the next few days
